Job summary

Great Lakes Credit Union in Bannockburn, IL seeks a Sr. Collector to lead complex collections, manage charge-offs, and maximize recoveries. You will work with a diverse team to mitigate losses and ensure compliant handling of past-due accounts across loan types and shares.

The role requires deep knowledge of debt collections, repossession, settlements, and cross-functional collaboration within the credit union. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five year’s experience as a collector and/or commercial or consumer collections experience.
• Proficient knowledge of foreclosure, repossession, debt restructure procedures, charge offs, recoveries, third party collections, and bankruptcy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain follow-up on past due accounts >30 days and arrange payment plans.
• Manage repossession of collateral from placement to sale and posting of sale proceeds.
• Refer accounts to external agencies and attorneys for post-charge-off recovery.
• Negotiate repayment agreements and settlements within approved limits.
• Ensure compliance with FDCPA and all applicable laws and internal policies.
