Job summary

ECS Group of Companies seeks a Senior Code Compliance Project Manager for our Mid-Atlantic Building Science + Infrastructure team in Charlottesville, VA. The role targets a licensed Mechanical Engineer leading complex projects, mentoring junior inspectors, and serving as a technical resource for clients and internal teams.

The position blends project management, technical oversight, client interaction, and field/office work supporting public and private sector projects across the region.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of related experience in code compliance inspection of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and/or plan review.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months; Mechanical PE strongly preferred.
• DHCD & ICC Certifications are strongly preferred. If not current, ability to achieve certification within 1 year is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead senior project management of code compliance projects, including reviewing plans, providing technical support, conducting inspections, and preparing reports and proposals.
• Mentor and train junior building inspectors.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in code compliance and participate in jurisdictional building code activities.
• Oversee project management of inspections, field oversight, and engagement with public and private sector clients.
