Job summary

Wabtec Corporation, a global leader in equipment and digital solutions for rail and related markets, seeks skilled CNC machinists to join our Buffalo Grove, IL team.

You will program, set up, and operate Mills, Lathes, Lasers and Robotic Welders, ensuring quality and safety standards while maintaining tooling and equipment.

This on-site role requires blueprint literacy, problem-solving, and the ability to read gauges and measurements to produce precise parts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or five (5)+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans tooling inventory by checking tools to determine amount available; anticipating needed tools; placing and expediting orders for tools; verifying receipt of tools.
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position and capable of modifying mill fixtures, turn and bore lathe Jaws, select and recommend tooling.
• Programs Mills, Lathes, Break Press, Lasers and /or Robotic Welders by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming CNC controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains equipment by completing daily preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and report repairs.
• Sets-up aforementioned machines by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, indicating vice or work piece, bushings, cams, gears, stops, bar feeders, cutting conditions, bending radius and bending pressure.
