Job summary

Smith+Nephew Life Unlimited machine shop is seeking a skilled CNC machinist to fabricate low-volume components, fixtures and tooling from drawings or sketches. You will program, set up, and run CNC milling, EDM and other equipment, ensuring parts meet tolerances and shop order requirements.

Required: associate degree in machining or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 years machine shop experience with completion of machinist apprenticeship; senior journeyman preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in machining technology or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 6 years machine shop experience mandatory.
• Apprenticeship completed; Senior Journeyman preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate low-volume components, fixtures and tooling from drawings or sketches with minimal supervision.
• Program, set-up, edit programs, and run CNC machinery such as milling, EDM and other shop equipment.
• Develop fabrication and inspection processes, design tools and fixtures, coordinate shop requests.
• Read tolerances and inspect final dimensions on products.
• Maintain calibration, preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Perform regular maintenance of CNC and conventional equipment.
• Assist in ordering tooling and raw material for prototyping activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the shop.
