Job summary

Smith+Nephew in Mansfield, MA is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate CNC and manual machines, producing precision medical components. You will read blueprints, verify with precision measurement tools, and support process improvements in a collaborative team environment.

You will contribute to a safe, compliant, and organized shop, while training newer teammates and maintaining documentation. The role requires at least 3 years of CNC experience and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; vocational training, certification, or equivalent machining experience preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years operating CNC milling, turning, grinding, and EDM machines.
• Ability to set up moderate machine work independently and troubleshoot processes.
• Experience reading blueprints and performing inspections with precision equipment.
• Strong English communication and basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment including milling, turning, grinding, drilling, tapping, honing, and EDM machinery.
• Manufacture precision medical components from raw materials while meeting quality and production requirements.
• Read blueprints, establish tool offsets, and replace worn tooling.
• Troubleshoot issues and support process improvements with engineers and toolmakers.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members.
• Complete manufacturing documentation and comply with FDA, QSR, policies and quality standards.
