Job summary

Aegis Manufacturing & Engineering seeks an experienced CNC technician to set up, operate, and monitor complex machining processes. You will develop and verify CNC programs, interpret GD&T, select tooling, and ensure first-piece and in-process inspections meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including hands-on experience operating, setting up, and troubleshooting CNC machinery.
• Ability to set up and operate CNC equipment and perform machining operations per drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Familiarity with CNC controls, tooling, workholding devices, fixtures, offsets, speeds, and feeds.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing instructions to determine machining approaches.
• Experience performing machine setups, verifying program accuracy, first-piece inspections, and preparing equipment for production runs.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce components per engineering drawings and specs.
• Develop, edit, optimize, and qualify CNC programs for accurate, repeatable machining.
• Interpret GD&T to determine tooling, workholding, and sequence of operations.
• Perform complete machine setups, including tool installation, loading, offsets, program verification, and first-piece inspection.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Monitor tool life and replace worn tooling to maintain efficiency and quality.
• Troubleshoot programming errors, machining issues, and tooling problems to minimize downtime.
• Provide guidance to operators and junior machinists and document setup procedures for consistency.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow safety and quality procedures.
