Job summary

Fillauer in Chattanooga, TN seeks an experienced CNC Machinist III to program, set up, and produce precision components used in orthotic and prosthetic devices. You will serve as a technical resource on the shop floor, mentor junior machinists, and help drive quality and efficiency improvements.

This role requires deep CNC programming expertise, tooling strategy, and the ability to read blueprints and GD&T, with a focus on maintaining exact tolerances in patient‑critical products.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Trade Certificate or relevant apprenticeship strongly preferred
• 5+ years of CNC machining experience with demonstrated progression in responsibility
• Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Program less complex parts at the machine and support programming of more advanced components
• Select cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies for complex part geometries
• Calculate and set machining parameters including speed, feed, depth of cut, and coolant flow
• Monitor machine operations to identify malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance conditions and implement corrective actions
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of machining issues, tooling failures, and fit‑up problems
• Support mold, fixture, and tooling refinement to improve manufacturability and cycle time
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Machinist I and II level team members
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve complex part and process issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; model safety standards for the team
