Job summary

FLSmidth in Winfield, West Virginia, seeks a CNC Machinist Lead with strong experience in general machine shop operations. You will examine work orders, set up tooling, mount workpieces, and proofread CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

The role requires cross-training colleagues and coordinating with Leads and Managers to prioritize production. Experience with Mazak Matrix/Mazatrol is essential, along with precise measuring and blueprint-reading skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience in a general machine shop.
• Ability to operate CNC lathes, mills, and drill presses.
• Experience with Mazak Matrix/Mazatrol controls.
• Proficient with measurement tools and interpreting blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Examine work orders and drawings to determine machining requirements and specs.
• Install tooling in posts, turrets, or magazines per program prints.
• Mount workpieces in chucks/fixtures or on faceplates.
• Proofread CNC programs for dimensions, feeds, and speeds.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds/speeds
• Maintain equipment via preventive maintenance and repairs as needed
• Document actions and communicate production needs across shifts
• Cross-train and assist Machinist I/II; train others as needed
• Update production boards and coordinate with other Leads/Managers
