Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Stage Machining. This role focuses on owning operations for large mills and a VTL, introducing new products, and driving manufacturability improvements across multiple teams.

You will work with design, manufacturing, reliability, and production teams to optimize processes, standardize work, and push the Terran R program toward scalable, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years progressive, related experience required.
• 3D & 2D design/drafting per ASME Y14.5M (NX preferred).
• Experience with CNC milling and turning across multiple materials.
• Understanding of machine programming (G-code) and machine setup.

Responsibilities

• Share ownership of operations on our two large 3-axis mills (20’x8’) and two large 5-axis mills (20’x8’) and a VTL.
• Introduce new products to these machines and improve current high-volume work.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability, and production teams and external vendors.
• Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity processes.
• Help establish new machining work centers by defining tooling and processes for Terran R parts.
• Support shop floor through live issue resolution and provide upstream feedback during manufacturing evolution.
• Provide DFM feedback to structures teams during development and prototype builds.
