Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own and optimize CNC milling/turning operations on large-scale mills and VTLs for Terran R parts. You will collaborate across design, manufacturing, and reliability teams to drive manufacturability and throughput, while contributing to process improvements and new tooling definitions.

You will work with engineers on design-for-manufacturing, set-up and programming (G-code), and will help establish new machining centers as Terran R evolves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 4+ years progressive and related experience.
• 3D & 2D design/drafting skills per ASME Y14.5M (NX preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills interfacing with engineering and manufacturing.
• Direct experience with CNC milling and turning operations.
• Understanding of machine programming (G-code) and machine setup.
• Strong fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement, and machining.

Responsibilities

• Share ownership of operations on large 3-axis and 5-axis mills and a VTL.
• Help introduce new products to these machines and improve current high-volume work.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability teams and external vendors.
• Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices for multiple processes.
• Help establish new machining work centers and tooling definitions for Terran R components.
• Support shop floor with live issue resolution and feedback for next-gen manufacturing tech.
• Provide DFx feedback to structures teams during development and prototyping.
