Job summary

UCI Health in California is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional and technical nursing staff by performing vital sign measurements, hygiene assistance, and safety tasks on a patient care unit. You will help stock supplies, operate hospital equipment as directed, and perform routine clerical duties while maintaining patient privacy and respect; weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assist. or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA)

Responsibilities

• Accurately measures and records vital signs.
• Assists with patient care activities as directed by the RN, including specimen collection, turning & positioning, and patient transportation
• Assists patient with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures and other ADLs, maintaining patient privacy and a safe environment
• Uses independent judgment and supports care planning with proactive actions
• Maintains inventory of patient belongings and supports POCT quality controls as required
