Job summary

Certerra-Southern Engineering is actively seeking an Experienced Construction Materials Testing Technician to perform field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt on active construction sites in Greensboro, NC. The technician ensures compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

The role involves mold/casting of specimens, density checks, moisture verifications, and observing compaction and bearing capacity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the firm.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Field Technician Level I, NICET CMT Level I or higher (soils or concrete), ICC Soils Certification, NCDOT Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing of concrete/grout/mortar on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.
• Monitor placement techniques for compliance.
• Test slump, air content, unit weight, and temperature.
• Mold compressive strength specimens; core drilling.
• Perform asphalt testing and related density/rolling verifications.
• Test soil/aggregate density, moisture content, compaction, and bearing capacity.
