Job summary

Certerra - Southern Engineering is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to perform testing of concrete, asphalt, soils and related materials on active construction sites to verify conformance with project documents.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; multiple preferred certifications such as ACI Field Technician Level I, NICET CMT Level I or ICC Soils, and NCDOT certifications. Equal opportunity employer policy stated.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the firm insurance carrier.
• Preferred: ACI Field Technician Level I, NICET CMT Level I+, ICC Soils, NCDOT certifications.

Responsibilities

• Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing: monitor placement, test slump, air content, unit weight, temperature; mold compressive strength specimens; core drilling.
• Asphalt testing and inspection: establish test locations, verify load temperature, density/ thickness, core drilling for sampling.
• Soil/Aggregate testing: density/compaction, observe proof-rolling, moisture content, bearing capacity, excavation quantification.
• * Pay and staffing level commensurate with years of experience and active certifications
