Job summary

Fermilab is seeking a CMMS Systems Administrator III to oversee system administration, assign personnel to projects, and ensure reliable operation of enterprise systems. You will install, maintain, and configure software, and implement OS enhancements to improve performance.

The role involves leading teams, coordinating with technical staff, and documenting standards while ensuring security and compliance across managed systems. Onsite at Batavia, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business systems, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience supporting complex enterprise systems.
• In-depth understanding of enterprise computer systems, application administration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques.
• Advanced knowledge of CMMS, asset management systems, maintenance processes, reporting, and data management practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage complex systems and multiple stakeholder needs.
• Experience with system configuration, access management, testing, implementation, and documentation.
• Experience developing reports, metrics, dashboards, and data-driven solutions to support operational decision-making.
• Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all activities related to system administration.
• Assigning personnel to various projects, directing their activities, and evaluating their work as required.
• Ensuring long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.
• Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software.
• Implementing operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
• Recognizing and trouble shooting complex problems with server hardware, operating system and applications software.
• Establishing and documenting standards and procedures for management review.
• Assuming computer security responsibility for managed systems.
• Communicating and coordinating with other technical personnel working closely on a project.
• Communicating effectively to management, peers, and stakeholders, in written and verbal form.
• Providing consultation to users and supporting services as needed.
• Interfacing with suppliers and vendors as needed.
• May supervise, instruct, direct, and check the work of others in a group.
