Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL seeks a CMM Technician to program, operate, and maintain CMMs for complex precision components. You will develop measurement routines, establish datum structures, and ensure compliance with GD&T across multiple parts.

This role emphasizes hands-on metrology work on-site with cross-functional collaboration. You will validate measurement strategies, inspect fielded hardware, and contribute to fixture design and process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing

Qualifications

• Proficient in programming and operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) from drawings and inspection plans.
• Able to apply GD&T callouts to measurement strategies and datum frames.
• Experience with first-article inspections (FAI/AS9102) and in-process inspections.

Responsibilities

• Program, operate, and maintain coordinate measuring machines (contact and non-contact) to inspect complex, multi-feature precision components from drawings and work orders.
• Develop and validate CMM measurement routines for new part families, including alignment strategy and datum structure.
• Establish part alignments and datum reference frames per GD&T callouts and verify measurement strategy.
• Design, build, and verify inspection fixtures and part-holding methods to repeatably locate hardware without distortion.
• Execute dimensional inspection campaigns and iterate measure-analyze-remeasure passes until repeatable results.
