Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Huntsville, AL is seeking a CMM Technician III to program, operate, and maintain coordinate measuring machines, verify complex hardware against engineering drawings, and generate inspection data for downstream use.

You will develop measurement strategies, establish datums, and create fixtures while collaborating with design and manufacturing engineers on drawings and fixtures. This on-site role offers hands-on metrology with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in dimensional inspection, CMM operation and programming.
• Experience with precision metrology and quality inspection.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Program, operate, and maintain coordinate measuring machines to inspect complex components from drawings and inspection plans.
• Develop and validate CMM measurement routines for new part families.
• Establish part alignments and datum reference frames per GD&T callouts.
• Design, build, and verify inspection fixtures and holding methods that repeatably locate hardware.
• Execute First Article Inspection (FAI/AS9102), in-process and final acceptance inspections, and generate inspection reports.
• Interpret GD&T and report feature conformance; analyze measurement results and identify out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Calibrate, qualify, and verify probes, styli, and reference artifacts; document all work in quality systems.
• Train and mentor junior inspectors and serve as a technical resource for CMM programming.

Education
