Job summary

Amazon CloudFront is seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer to build hardware provisioning platforms and automation for reliable, scalable services worldwide.

You will own the availability, security, and performance of Linux-based systems from OS to hardware, shipping tooling and driving fault-tolerant lifecycle processes. You will work with a team of engineers to deliver high-throughput, secure infrastructure at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years programming in at least one modern language.
• 4+ years professional software development experience.
• 2+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• 4+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment.
• 4+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 2+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience.
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, secure, implement, code, automate, deploy, and root‑cause complex system issues across many different types of Linux bare metal servers.
• Own the availability, security, and performance of everything Operating system downwards, including the hardware, firmware, and components.
• Automate and scale our the hardware lifecycle process to be efficient, durable, and fault tolerant.
• Ensure our servers are properly provisioned, patched, upgraded, and in service all the time.
