Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide 24x7 operational support for cloud-based systems. The role is remote and aligned with the Veterans Affairs (VA) department, requiring strong Linux/Windows, scripting, and IaC skills.

Candidates should have a Public Trust (MBI) clearance or ability to obtain it and be prepared for on-call duties. Ideal candidates will bring extensive production system experience, familiarity with AWS/Azure, CI/CD

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services (S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch).
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with system administration tasks (user management, permissions, monitoring).
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management.

Responsabilités

• Provide high-level day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions for routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document problems and resolutions in logging tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities and on-call support.
• Ensure compliance with VA security policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and perform updates/maintenance.
