Job summary

EY Challenger seeks a senior cloud engineering leader to architect AI-enabled, secure, observable, and cost-aware infrastructure foundations. You will guide complex designs, drive resilience, and implement scalable automation while coaching teams to adopt robust engineering practices.

You will influence architecture decisions, verify outcomes with telemetry, and ensure production readiness across multiple use cases in a dynamic EY program. Hybrid office flexibility is available.

Qualifications

• Deep cloud expertise with knowledge of cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Hands-on engineering: write, review, debug, and test infrastructure code.
• Diagnostic judgment using telemetry and experiments to verify fixes.
• Reliability leadership: service objectives, capacity, resilience, and readiness.
• AI workload awareness: model services, retrieval, and agent workflows complexities.
• Technical influence: explain trade-offs and set standards with evidence.

Responsibilities

• Build shared cloud foundations and deployment automation for rapid team start.
• Use AI-assisted engineering responsibly while reviewing and validating code.
• Guide complex designs by reviewing architectures, migrations, and releases for trade-offs.
• Strengthen production readiness with defined evidence and readiness criteria.
• Set reliability practices with objectives, observability, alerts, and reviews.
• Make cost and capacity visible through workload testing and evidence.
• Resolve difficult failures via deep investigations across distributed services.
• Prove resilience through performance tests, recovery exercises, and rollback paths.
• Publish reusable capabilities and runbooks with clear operating boundaries.
• Raise engineering capability by coaching engineers and transitioning ownership.
