Job summary

Peraton seeks a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Lead to design, implement, and maintain mission-critical databases hosted on AWS EC2 and RDS. You will mentor junior staff, drive security/compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable database services.

The role requires deep expertise in HA, DR, encryption, patching, and performance tuning, with EST hours and a 24x7 on-call expectation. Remote location supports distributed teams.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or HS diploma with 12+ years.
• 7+ years of production MS SQL Server DBA experience.
• Experience with SQL Server 2019/2022 in HA configurations.
• Experience with AWS RDS databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Redshift).
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, install, configuration, and optimization of MS SQL Server in AWS cloud environments.
• Architect high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping).
• Automate database functions and support data migration and CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and review of deliverables.
