Job summary

J&T Business Consulting seeks a senior Cloud Software Engineer 3 to design, develop, and optimize large-scale Big Data cloud architectures in Annapolis, MD. The role requires Active TS/SCI with Polygraph and hands-on experience with Java, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.

You will implement back-end processing pipelines, work with Hadoop ecosystem components, Cloud Bigtable, HDFS, and ZooKeeper, and lead scalable software solutions across multi-node Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 12 years of software engineering experience (4+ years in Big Data cloud tech/distributed computing)
• 16 years of relevant software engineering experience without a degree (4 extra years substituting for degree)
• Master’s degree substitutes for 2 years of experience; CC Hadoop cert substitutes for 1 year of cloud experience

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, and maintain distributed Big Data cloud systems
• Implement Java applications, RESTful web services, and MapReduce analytics
• Build interfaces with Cloud Bigtable, HDFS, ZooKeeper, and other distributed storage/coordination tools
• Design workflows for ingesting, parsing, normalizing, indexing diverse formats
• Manage multi-node Linux environments and secure distributed apps
• Provide technical leadership on hardware/software trade-offs and reuse
• Profile and optimize JVM memory and performance
