Job summary

J&T Business Consulting seeks a Cloud Software Engineer 3 to design and implement large-scale cloud data systems for a federal program. You will own back-end data processing, analytics, and retrieval, primarily in Java, within a distributed Hadoop ecosystem.

You’ll lead development tasks, mentor teammates, and help shape system design from high level to components. Requires active TS/SCI with polygraph and on-site work in Annapolis, MD.

Qualifications

• 12 years of software engineering on programs of similar scope and complexity, including at least 4 years on big-data cloud or distributed computing programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; 4 extra years of cloud software engineering can replace the degree; Master’s degree adds 2 years; Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer adds 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test cloud-based information retrieval and big-data processing systems, mainly in Java.
• Build and manage complex MapReduce analytics workflows.
• Write code for distributed file systems, BigTable-style stores and distributed coordination frameworks.
• Architect solutions for processing and retrieving very large data volumes efficiently.
• Debug and tune distributed computing frameworks and manage multi-node cloud environments.
• Lead development tasks and ensure quality control of all software.
• Act as SME on Hadoop and cloud computing; recommend new technologies and standards.
