Viasat, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join the Security Engineering team within the Global Infrastructure & Security organization.

The role focuses on secure cloud engineering, reusable templates, and cross-technical collaboration to enable secure, cloud-focused solutions for customers, partners, engineers, and employees. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in security and engineering, strong AWS/GCP experience, and a solid foundation in security fundamentals.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing secure cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, identity and access management, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and comfortable with technical details.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standards.
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizations.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle.
• Work alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices.
