Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer for its Global Infrastructure & Security organization to drive security cloud engineering across Azure, AWS, and GCP. The role emphasizes designing reusable templates, providing architecture guidance, and embedding security into the development lifecycle.

The day-to-day includes driving compliance with security frameworks like CMMC Level 2, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering secure cloud solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutions.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, identity and access management, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and be comfortable with technical details.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standards.
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizations.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle.
• Work alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices.
