Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join the Security Engineering team to advance a cloud-first security strategy across multiple cloud providers. You will design secure reference architectures, guide engineering teams, and help enforce security controls throughout the development lifecycle.

The role requires deep cloud security expertise, hands-on development ability, and strong communication to explain risks and mitigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge with hands-on secure cloud design and implementation.
• Solid understanding of encryption, IAM, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and standards.
• Drive compliance to security frameworks including CMMC Level 2 where applicable.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle.
• Develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices with cross-functional teams.
