Job summary

Citian is a fast growing SaaS company based in Washington, DC, seeking a hands-on security engineer. You will secure production cloud systems, set security standards, and work with leadership to expand to more states.

You’ll implement access controls, encryption, logging, and incident response, ensuring regulatory requirements are met. You will partner with engineering, data teams, and customers to prepare for audits, translate frameworks into concrete controls, and act as the main technical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years in security, platform or infrastructure engineering with strong AWS security focus.
• Experience securing production systems against defined requirements with controls and evidence.

Responsibilities

• Lead security and compliance across products, including crash analytics and data intake for state agencies.
• Set requirements with engineering and data teams, build controls, track fixes, and prepare for audits.
• Enforce access controls for regulated customer data, including limits on US-origin data and third-party tools.
• Translate security frameworks (SOC 2, CJIS) into concrete controls with owners and evidence.
• Support assessments required by contracts, such as NIST SP 800-53 Moderate.
• Be the technical contact for customers' security teams and coordinate with Customer Success.
