Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join the Security Engineering team to drive a cloud security vision across the Global Infrastructure & Security group. You will help enable secure, cloud-focused solutions for customers, partners, engineers, and employees.

The role emphasizes designing security templates, guiding architecture, and embedding security into the development lifecycle across AWS and GCP environments.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutions.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, IAM, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standards
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizations
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle
• Work alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices
