Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join its Security Engineering team. You will help shape a cloud security engineering vision across Azure, AWS, and GCP, enabling secure, scalable cloud solutions for customers, partners, and internal teams.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in security and software development, strong cloud experience, and hands-on Terraform and security tooling. This role emphasizes collaboration, best-practice architecture, and adherence to security standards.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge with hands-on secure cloud design.
• Solid understanding of encryption, IAM, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work well with technical details.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet best practices and standards.
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 within applicable cloud organizations.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle.
• Work with a cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices.
