Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join the Security Engineering team and shape our cloud security strategy. You will design secure cloud architectures, perform security reviews, and drive compliance across AWS, GCP, and multi-cloud environments.

The role emphasizes building reusable templates, embedding security early in development, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable secure, scalable cloud solutions for customers and partners.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge with hands-on experience in secure cloud solutions.
• Solid understanding of encryption, IAM, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work with technical detail.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to meet industry best practices and standards.
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 where applicable.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle.
• Develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices with a cross-functional team.
