Job summary

VETRO FiberMap, Inc. in Portland, ME is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to scale our GIS fiber management platform in a hybrid role. You will own reliability, observability, and cloud infrastructure, collaborating across engineering, product, and security teams to deliver scalable services.

You bring 5+ years in SRE/DevOps, strong Terraform and AWS experience, and a passion for AI-enabled automation to reduce toil while improving performance and resilience for large datasets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or significant professional experience in CS, engineering, math, or GIS
• 5+ years of experience in SRE/DevOps/Platform Engineering/Cloud Infrastructure
• Experience provisioning, deploying, and supporting highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS or similar
• Strong monitoring, logging, observability, and incident management skills
• Troubleshooting complex distributed systems across applications, databases, networks, and infrastructure
• Scripting with Python and Bash; familiarity with PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Security/compliance experience such as SOC 2

Responsibilities

• Establish and improve SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and platform health
• Build, operate, and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure using IaC and modern deployment practices
• Ensure observability of performance, failures, dependencies, and customer impact
• Improve detection, response, root-cause analysis, postmortems, and on-call processes
• Automate deployments, remediation, infrastructure management, and capacity planning
• Identify bottlenecks and improve performance of application, database, infrastructure, and network
• Develop platform tools to empower engineers; improve CI/CD, environments, tooling, and self-service
• Apply security best practices; assist with access controls, backups, disaster recovery, and SOC 2 audits
• Use AI and automation to accelerate troubleshooting and incident analysis
• Monitor cloud utilization and control costs
