Job summary

Abbott, a global healthcare leader, seeks a Senior Cloud Platform Architect for Lingo to own the SaaS architecture connecting mobile apps to a secure cloud backend. You will shape the data ingestion, APIs, and services that deliver personalized biosensor insights at scale.

Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with AI teams to enable responsible machine learning capabilities across platforms. Alameda, CA-based, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering, including 5+ years in architect/lead roles for large-scale cloud/SaaS platforms.
• Proven experience architecting cloud-native backends that serve mobile apps at consumer scale.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and API design.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture of Lingo's cloud SaaS platform and align with product priorities.
• Define architecture principles, reference designs, and standards for services, APIs, data, and infrastructure.
• Lead architecture and design reviews; document key decisions and manage technical debt.
• Architect services connecting iOS/Android apps to the cloud, including data sync and secure upload.
• Design high-throughput ingestion pipelines for biosensor and user data.
• Define data models, retention, partitioning, and lifecycle policies balancing performance and privacy.
• Architect secure, performant APIs powering in-app experiences and platform capabilities.
• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure clean data flows with governance.
