Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Architect for Lingo's Cloud Platform in Alameda, CA. You will own the architecture of a scalable SaaS platform, integrating biosensor data and mobile app interactions with secure, high-performance APIs.

You will lead architecture reviews, set standards, and collaborate with product, mobile, data, and AI teams to drive reliable, cost-aware, privacy-conscious growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering, including 5+ years in architect/lead roles for large-scale cloud/SaaS.
• Proven experience architecting cloud-native backends serving mobile apps at consumer scale.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and API design.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture of Lingo's cloud SaaS platform with a clear roadmap.
• Define principles, reference designs, and standards for services, APIs, data, and infra.
• Lead architecture reviews, document decisions, and manage technical debt and trade-offs.
• Assess platform scalability, reliability, and cost risks; plan evolution as user base grows.
• Architect services linking iOS/Android apps to the cloud with data sync and secure upload.
• Design high-throughput ingestion pipelines for biosensor and user data.
• Define data models, retention, partitioning, and lifecycle policies with privacy in mind.
• Architect secure, performant APIs with authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering for clean data flows with lineage and governance.
