Job summary

BECU is seeking an experienced Staff Operations Engineer – Cloud Networking to shape and advance cloud networking capabilities across hybrid and Azure environments. You will own complex infrastructure challenges, design scalable and secure platforms, and mentor teams to raise the organization’s cloud maturity.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead architecture decisions, and drive reliability through automation and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience with Azure and cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in two or more disciplines including Cloud Computing and Infrastructure Services.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or similar tools; scripting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Ability to communicate complex cloud networking concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure for bi-modal and hybrid setups, including hub/spoke, Virtual WAN, VPN, ExpressRoute.
• Provide Azure Networking expertise on networks, DNS, routing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Define architecture standards that scale with business needs.
• Promote secure engineering practices with compliance in mind.
• Drive observability, telemetry, monitoring, and diagnostics for reliability.
• Lead infrastructure automation and IaC initiatives using Terraform and scripting.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Analyze telemetry to identify gaps and optimize performance.
• Create and maintain network/topology documentation and process flows.
• Lead engineering excellence through code reviews and prototyping.
• Mentor engineers in Azure networking, automation, and best practices.
• Implement governance, policy, and security controls for safe environments.
• Collaborate with architects, executives, and product teams to align solutions.
• Support on-call rotations and after-hours deployments.
