Job summary

BECU is seeking a Staff Operations Engineer - Cloud Networking to design and optimize hybrid cloud networking solutions using Azure technologies. You will lead infrastructure automation, define scalable architectures, and mentor engineers while ensuring security and compliance across hybrid and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in on-call rotations, and travel up to 10% as needed to support enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience including Azure and cloud infrastructure environments
• Experience in two or more disciplines with emphasis on Cloud Computing and Infrastructure Services
• Proven experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting products and services in production
• Advanced knowledge of Azure IaaS/PaaS, SaaS, and cloud-native infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Design Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure including Azure hub/spoke, Virtual WAN, VPN, and ExpressRoute
• Provide Azure Networking Expertise on virtual networks, DNS, routing, and hybrid connectivity
• Define Architecture Standards that scale with business needs
• Champion Secure Engineering Practices with a security-first mindset
• Drive Observability & Reliability via telemetry, monitoring, and diagnostics
• Automate Infrastructure & Networking using Terraform and scripting
• Build CI/CD Pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Analyze & Resolve Complex Issues using telemetry and trend analysis
• Create Technical Documentation including dataflow diagrams and topology
• Lead Engineering Excellence through code reviews and prototyping
• Mentor & Coach Engineers in Azure networking and IaC best practices
• Implement Governance & Security Controls with landing zones and guardrails
• Collaborate with architects, executives, and product teams
• Support Operations including on-call rotations and after-hours deployments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud networking solutions
• Availability to travel occasionally (up to 10%)
