Job summary

US AI is seeking a motivated Senior System Engineer to join the IT Infrastructure team in North Bethesda, MD. You will support design, deployment, and operation of scalable IT systems with emphasis on DevOps, cloud platforms, and infrastructure as code.

The role requires collaboration across teams to automate deployments, improve release pipelines, and maintain security best practices using Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git. A strong foundation in Linux and scripting is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of ten years' experience with SDLC models and agile methodologies.
• Minimum seven years' experience developing web applications, with at least 1 year in full-stack development (MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js).
• Minimum four years' experience with full-stack development using Typescript at both the front end and back end.
• Thorough understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
• Deep understanding of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Rancher).
• Working knowledge of CI/CD frameworks (e.g. JFrog, GitLab).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python).
• Experience with network technologies (e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto).
• Fundamental knowledge of database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Extensive experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
• Experience working with agility in a high-velocity environment

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT Infrastructure.
• Monitor and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) ensuring high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to automate and improve development and release processes.
• Help maintain and improve configuration management practices.
• Participate in the development and implementation of infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Support the team in managing version control systems (Git).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Ensure system security through monitoring, patch management, and implementation of best practices.
• Document processes and maintain records of configurations and changes.
