Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure cloud infrastructure as we migrate from on-premise to AWS. You will work across teams to deliver high-performance solutions using AWS services including EC2, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, and Terraform, with an emphasis on cost, security, and observability.

This hybrid role is based in major cities including Chicago, requiring 7+ years in cloud engineering or DevOps with 3+

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 7+ years in Cloud Engineering or DevOps with 3+ years AWS hands-on.
• Expertise in AWS core services (EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM) and Kubernetes; Linux proficiency.
• Hands-on Docker experience.
• Experience delivering business-critical systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience implementing security & compliance controls (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, FFIEC).
• Experience maintaining Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cost-aware cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Ensure security controls and regulatory compliance across environments.
• Troubleshoot complex infra issues; participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to meet audits.
• Implement IAM, VPC design, encryption, and KMS management.
• Adopt Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD practices.
• Maintain cloud security posture and patching per SLAs.
• Document cloud policies, procedures, and architectures.
