Job summary

Early Warning Services LLC seeks a Principal Engineer - Cloud Engineering to define cloud strategy and advance architecture standards. You will lead complex AWS-based initiatives, guide security/compliance, and shape multi-team solutions for scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud platforms.

You will partner with engineering, security, risk, and platform teams during the ongoing migration from on-premise to AWS, driving patterns, guardrails, and long-term platform sustainability.

Qualifications

• Education/experience in computer science or related field.
• 15 years of cloud/infra experience.
• 5+ years AWS enterprise-scale design/operations.
• Deep AWS core services expertise.
• Kubernetes and Linux proficiency.
• Experience guiding architecture/technical direction for large cloud platforms.
• Ability to influence across teams without direct authority.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform and automation.
• Security/compliance controls (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, FFIEC).
• Observability for complex high-availability environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead cloud engineering strategy, architectures, and standards for AWS-based platforms.
• Design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud-native solutions using AWS services.
• Lead root-cause analyses and improve platform reliability and readiness.
• Establish infrastructure-as-code patterns and CI/CD practices via Terraform and tooling.
• Collaborate with Security, Risk, and Compliance to meet regulatory standards.
• Architect disaster recovery, high availability, and backup strategies.
• Enforce cloud security best practices across IAM, networks, encryption, and secrets.
• Develop observability standards and implement logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards and alerts.
• Guide technical roadmaps and enable safe self-service adoption.
• Mentor engineers and provide durable technical guidance.
