Job summary

Early Warning Services LLC seeks a Principal Engineer - Cloud Engineering to define cloud strategy and enterprise standards. You will drive AWS-based architecture, govern risk and compliance, and lead complex cloud initiatives across teams.

The role demands strong leadership and deep AWS/Kubernetes expertise. You will mentor engineers, ensure observability and security, and guide multi-team migrations from on-premise to AWS while balancing cost and performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
Typically 15 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
Typically 5 years designing and operating AWS enterprise-scale solutions.
Deep expertise in AWS core services (compute, storage, networking, identity, containers, data services).
Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, Linux, and distributed systems design.
Experience leading architecture and technical direction for large-scale cloud platforms or migrations.
Experience establishing and scaling infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
Strong experience in CI/CD, testing, secure engineering, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

Defines and leads cloud engineering strategy, reference architectures, and technical standards for AWS-based infrastructure.
Designs scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud-native solutions using AWS services.
Leads root-cause analysis for incidents and improves platform reliability and readiness.
Establishes enterprise patterns for infrastructure as code, automation, and CI/CD.
Partners with Security, Risk, and Compliance to meet regulatory standards (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, FFIEC).
Provides technical leadership for audits and strengthens control evidence approaches.
Architects disaster recovery, high availability, and fault-tolerance strategies.
Defines cloud security best practices including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and key management.
Drives cloud observability standards and implements logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerts.
Influences roadmaps and investment decisions to improve cloud adoption and operability.
Mentors engineers and emphasizes high engineering standards.
