Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Sr. Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the Cloud/Platform Scrum team in the Chicago area. You will design and maintain scalable Azure infrastructure, build automated CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and manage containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.

You will implement IaC with Terraform, monitor systems, and ensure secure, reliable software delivery across domains. Collaboration with offshore teams and cross-functional partners is essential, as is mentoring others

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 5+ years in DevOps/Software Engineering with distributed systems.
• Deep Azure expertise and experience with AKS.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools, GitHub, Gradle and Maven.
• Strong Docker/Kubernetes experience and IaC with Terraform.
• Experience with monitoring and security practices in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on Azure.
• Create automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Gradle.
• Manage containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes (AKS).
• Provision infrastructure with Terraform and ensure reliability with monitoring.
• Collaborate with dev/ops teams and offshore partners; drive security.
• Improve performance, availability, and incident response through SRE practices.
