Job summary

VIATEQ is seeking a Database Administrator to support a federal civilian customer. The role is remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

You will administer SQL Server and/or Oracle databases, support cloud modernization efforts, and respond to incidents in ServiceNow, contributing to a robust production environment. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of database experience, knowledge of backup/recovery, and strong SQL skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 4+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, and basic performance tuning concepts.
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries and troubleshooting routine database issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, and patching.
• Monitor database health, performance, and job scheduling; escalate issues as needed.
• Execute backup and recovery procedures and support disaster recovery testing.
• Support database user access requests, role management, and security auditing per policy.
• Assist with data migration tasks for cloud modernization and consolidation.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for operational needs.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, schedules, and SOPs.
• Respond to incident tickets in ServiceNow and participate in root cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
