Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Architect to lead the design of scalable, secure cloud and data architectures powering high-volume platforms.

You will guide technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and SRE partners to ensure alignment and reliable delivery. Responsibilities include evaluating cloud technologies, specializing in PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and Redis-based systems, and turning prototypes into production-ready designs.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or its equivalent.
• Experience developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns.
• Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey.
• Understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities and services.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures.
• Build prototypes, proofs of concept, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security.
• Convert successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs.
