Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the design and delivery of scalable cloud data architectures for our global platform.

You will mentor engineers, define technical direction, and work with product and SRE teams to drive reliable, high‑performance solutions. You will evaluate cloud technologies, design distributed database architectures (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB), and implement reusable patterns using Terraform, Python, Go and Bash.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or its equivalent
• Expertise in developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns
• Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MongoDB
• Hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey
• Understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability

Responsibilities

• Designing scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures
• Evaluating cloud technologies and determining suitability for new platform capabilities and services
• Serving as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Designing highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures
• Building prototypes, proof of concepts, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security
• Converting successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs
