Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the design and delivery of scalable cloud data services.

You will guide technical direction, coach engineers, and work with SRE partners to ensure reliability, performance, and security of distributed data systems. Responsibilities include architecting scalable cloud/data architectures, evaluating new cloud technologies, and creating production-ready patterns from prototypes.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field.
• Expertise in reusable infrastructure with Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns.
• Demonstrate ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey.
• Understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities and services.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures.
• Build prototypes, proof of concepts, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security.
• Convert successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs.
