Job summary

Ontada seeks a senior technology architect to shape the vision and modernization of enterprise platforms. You will lead architecture reviews, set standards, and drive cloud adoption (Azure/AWS/GCP), containerization, and AI initiatives across engineering teams.

You will mentor teams, influence stakeholders, and guide investments in scalable, secure, and compliant solutions, including iKnowMed G2 oncology tech. Strong healthcare IT knowledge is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent and typically 10+ years of relevant experience; fewer years required with relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years of architecture and technical leadership across complex, distributed systems
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud-native architecture, and large-scale enterprise platforms
• Strong experience with REST APIs, API gateways, event-driven architectures, Kafka, messaging, and enterprise integration patterns
• Hands-on expertise in Azure, AWS, or GCP, including Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and resiliency patterns
• Proven experience designing and operating secure, scalable, highly available, multi-tenant applications
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, test automation, architecture governance, and engineering best practices
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, caching, search technologies, and analytics platforms
• Ability to lead architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, and influence stakeholders through technical leadership
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI technologies including LLMs, Prompt Engineering, and RAG architectures
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulated environments
• Healthcare interoperability knowledge including FHIR, HL7, and SMART on FHIR is a plus
• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field is strongly preferred
• Prior healthcare IT, clinical software, or highly regulated environment experience is strongly preferred
• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise systems is a plus
• Experience managing third-party vendors and partners
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States full-time without employer support or sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technology vision, architecture strategy, and modernization roadmap for enterprise platforms
• Lead architecture reviews, establish technology standards, and ensure solutions meet scalability, security, reliability, performance, and maintainability principles
• Drive adoption of Azure, AWS, or GCP, containerization, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code
• Architect secure and scalable integrations using REST APIs, messaging platforms, event-driven architectures, service buses, and healthcare interoperability standards
• Develop multi-year architecture roadmaps, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide investment decisions
• Provide architectural guidance across engineering teams and foster engineering excellence through design reviews, best practices, and technical governance
• Champion AI/GenAI, advanced analytics, automation, and modern engineering practices
• Promote reliability, security, performance optimization, continuous improvement, and operational governance
• Partner with engineering, product, security, and business leaders and communicate architectural decisions to executive stakeholders
• Evaluate technology platforms, cloud services, and strategic vendor partnerships
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, privacy, compliance, healthcare, and enterprise governance requirements
• Influence enterprise technology direction and drive digital transformation initiatives
• Deliver scalable LLM, NLP, and RAG solutions
• Establish secure, compliant, and reliable AI operations through MLOps/LLMOps and responsible AI practices
• Develop POCs, solve technical problems, establish architectural standards, and influence technology decisions across initiatives
• Work with Ontada’s iKnowMed G2 platform and supporting oncology technology solutions
