Simpson Strong‑Tie Company Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize and evolve our software platform. You will design and develop cloud‑based APIs and services supporting next‑generation engineering applications for the building industry.

You will build scalable cloud solutions using C#/.NET, Azure, and RESTful APIs, while mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering standards. This role is based in Plano, TX with relocation not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core).
• Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed services.
• Experience designing scalable client‑server or cloud‑native applications.
• Experience with relational databases and data modeling (T‑SQL / Azure SQL).
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration).
• Experience with Git‑based source control workflows.
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum software development environments.
• Strong system design, debugging, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor or guide other engineers.
• Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Application Insights, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Managed Identity.
• Microservice and service‑oriented architecture design patterns.
• Event‑driven systems and messaging patterns (Azure Service Bus / Event Grid).
• CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Containerization technologies: Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Observability and monitoring practices (Application Insights / OpenTelemetry / structured logging).
• OpenAPI / Swagger API documentation.
• Authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience modernizing legacy desktop or monolithic applications.
• WPF or desktop application development (C++/C#).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Bicep / ARM).
• Building industry software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable cloud‑native services and APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to modernize existing desktop functionality into service oriented cloud solutions.
• Design and implement secure, observable, and resilient distributed systems leveraging Azure cloud technologies.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architecture reviews while promoting best practices.
• Develop automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes to improve quality and velocity.
• Participate in Agile planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards.
