Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is modernizing its software platform by designing cloud-based APIs and services on Microsoft Azure. You will mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and grow into a Technical Lead as the platform evolves.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architects and engineers to transform desktop functionality into scalable cloud-hosted services, while improving quality through CI/CD and automated testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/SE or equivalent.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core).
• Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed services.
• Experience designing scalable cloud-native apps.
• Relational DBs and data modeling (T-SQL / Azure SQL).
• Experience with automated testing (unit/integration).
• Git-based source control workflows.
• Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Application Insights, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Managed Identity.
• Microservice architecture and event-driven patterns.
• CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Observability: App Insights, OpenTelemetry, logging.
• OpenAPI / Swagger documentation.
• OAuth2 / OpenID Connect / Microsoft Entra ID authentication.
• Legacy modernization experience is a plus.
• WPF/desktop dev (C++/C#).
• Terraform / Bicep / ARM for IaC.
• Building industry software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native services and APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Modernize desktop apps into service-oriented, cloud-hosted solutions.
• Design secure, observable, resilient distributed systems on Azure.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Develop automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
• Engage in Agile planning, standups, sprints, and retrospectives.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering standards and best practices.
