Job Overview
You will play a key role in modernizing and evolving our software platform as a Senior Software Engineer at Simpson Strong‑Tie. You will design and develop cloud‑based APIs and services that support next‑generation engineering and design applications for the building industry.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support scalable cloud‑native services and APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core. (30%)
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to modernize existing desktop application functionality into service‑oriented and cloud‑hosted solutions. (20%)
- Design and implement secure, observable, and resilient distributed systems leveraging Azure cloud technologies. (15%)
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architecture reviews while promoting engineering best practices. (10%)
- Develop automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes to improve software quality and delivery velocity. (10%)
- Participate in Agile planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. (10%)
- Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and development practices. (5%)
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core).
- Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed services.
- Experience designing scalable client‑server or cloud‑native applications.
- Experience with relational databases and data modeling (T‑SQL / Azure SQL).
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration).
- Experience with Git‑based source control workflows.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum software development environments.
- Strong system design, debugging, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or guide other engineers.
- Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Application Insights, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Managed Identity.
- Microservice and service‑oriented architecture design patterns.
- Event‑driven systems and messaging patterns (Azure Service Bus / Event Grid).
- CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Containerization technologies: Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
- Observability and monitoring practices (Application Insights / OpenTelemetry / structured logging).
- OpenAPI / Swagger API documentation.
- Authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience modernizing legacy desktop or monolithic applications.
- WPF or desktop application development (C++/C#).
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Bicep / ARM).
- Building industry software experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear, and sometimes walk and stand. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, and other devices are frequently used.
Travel
Domestic travel up to 5%–10% of the time.
Work Status & Location
Full‑time, exempt position located in Plano, TX. Relocation is not available for this position.
Pay
$107,500 – $182,800 / year.
