Qualifikationen

• Degree in microbiology or biology, chemistry, or basic medical science with 20 semester hours in microbiology and related fields; 20 additional hours in physical and mathematical sciences including organic chemistry/biochemistry, physics, and algebra.
• Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a microbiology major plus appropriate experience or additional education.
• Graduate education in microbiology or related areas such as immunology, serology, or microbial genetics may be pertinent depending on role.
• Alternate requirement: Board certification or fellowship may meet experience requirements for GS-14 clinical/public health microbiology positions.

Aufgaben

• Lead a clinical service for rapid detection of drug resistance in infectious pathogens and growth-based drug susceptibility testing.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA objectives and regulations; align with SLAs, SOPs, and branch policies.
• Develop and validate laboratory methods for detection and characterization of infectious pathogens; ensure SOP compliance.
• Oversee development, modification, and validation of clinical testing assays within a quality management framework.
• Supervise laboratory data analysis and quality assurance activities; describe relevant supervisory experience.
