Job summary

Tanaq Management Services (TMS) seeks a Microbiologist III to support a team of professionals in a public health laboratory environment. Lead molecular biology projects, supervise staff, and ensure QA/QC and adherence to CLIA/QMS.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of lab experience with molecular biology procedures.
• Experience managing a team.
• Experience handling nucleic acids, real-time PCR, ELISA, etc.
• NGS experience preferred.
• Experience in viral diagnostics preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel).
• Public health/lab setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory project aims.
• Lead development and implementation of new lab procedures.
• Train and mentor junior team members.
• Ensure QA/QC with high accuracy.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain alignment with current scientific advances.
• Supervise molecular microbiologic techniques for pathogen isolation and subtyping.
• Handle sequencing and metagenomic prep per SOPs.
• Develop and validate experimental procedures.
• Meet bi-weekly with junior staff and SME leads to discuss results.
• Ensure CLIA and QMS compliance.
• Develop molecular diagnostics reagents and QA/QC programs.
• Collaborate on genetic analysis with internal and external partners.
• Analyze assay results with quality controls.
• Validate project results and stay within scope.
• Prepare drafts and reviews of reports and analyses.
