Shepherd Center is seeking a Microbiologist to perform bench microbiology testing and proficiency testing in a hospital laboratory setting in Atlanta, GA. The role ensures timely, accurate results and maintains equipment and safety standards.

The candidate will supervise testing, train staff, and stay current with continuing education requirements, while collaborating with clinical teams to support patient care.

Formación

• Requires ASCP or AMT certification.
• 3–5 years of related experience in clinical laboratory settings.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to evaluate specimens for testing appropriateness.

Responsabilidades

• Performs bench microbiology testing and proficiency testing.
• Maintains and troubleshoots microbiology equipment and instrumentation.
• Ensures supply levels at the bench are adequate.
• Communicates results clearly to clinical staff and laboratory users.
• Processes specimens and reports results to provide timely, accurate data.
• Maintains laboratory operations in absence of Lab Manager.
• Trains technologists to perform microbiological testing.
• Keeps current with at least 8 hours of microbiology CE annually.
• Reviews specimens for adequacy and appropriateness of testing.
• Adheres to safety policies and reports any injuries or incidents.
• Monitors regulatory compliance and internal standards.
